Monthly Book Log June 2018 {Age 5 and 3.5}
I’m kind of astonished that we don’t have any family audiobooks to include in this month’s log, given the amount of hours we’ve logged in the van! We’ve been on a music kick, which is fun for the summer! (I posted about that on Instagram and Facebook.) We are midway through the next Little House installment with daddy, and midway through In Grandma’s Attic when daddy’s not around. We have, however, been consistent with our chapter book reading– so calming and balancing for those hectic, exciting summer days!

Books
Widewater (Growly series). You can read my longer review of this series in last month’s log here. Spoiler: we love it and recommend it for outdoorsy/survival/adventure loving bookworms who have a decent attention span.
Dragons and Marshmallows (Zoey and Sassafras series, Mighty Girl Book of the Year; NYPL Best Book; winner of a bunch of state awards). We all, including 3.5yo Preschool Bookworm, loved this series. The author did a fantastic job melding fact and fantasy– namely using science, observation, research methods and experiments to help magical creatures. You’ll find pictures on every page and a fast moving plot. We requested #2 from our library and just got it!
Fergus and Zeke by Kate Messner. A similar level as the Zoey and Sassafras series, but simpler plot. We enjoyed this one’s setting in a museum, since my two Bookworms are currently creating museums in their bedrooms with their nature finds. #meltmyheart Preschool Bookworm enjoyed this one as well.
Night of the Ninth Dragon (Magic Tree House series) It’s been a while since we’ve read a MTH book!
Audiobooks
allllll the Boxcar Children books! That stage is still going strong thanks to Hoopla and the prolific writing of Gertrude Chandler Warner. I think he listens to about three per week during his quiet time.
